SG: Let’s get started. Why don’t we start from the beginning? Please tell us about your education/ career before entering the Salesforce ecosystem.
Akashdeep: I started my career as a Salesforce trainee. I have a Bachelor’s degree in electronics and communication. I left the training in Hyderabad to give the interview in Chandigarh to start my career. Earlier I thought I had made a mistake, but later on, I never regretted that.
SG: That’s awesome. Now we would love to know what was the tipping point when you said, “I want to make this change,” and what was the trigger for that?
Akashdeep: I can’t say a tipping point, but it’s just that I am emotional in terms of family and friends. I left my training and went back to my home town. But I always learned coding, which led me to the Salesforce Ecosystem.
SG: You achieved many certs along the way. Can you share three things with us?
1. Why do you value certificates?
2. What are the challenges associated with the process?
3. What are your top tips for being successful in cert exams?
Akashdeep: Certifications are proof of concept that you know a specific area. Moreover, it helps you to eat first place compared to others.
- The main challenge is that most of us think after gaining 1-2 years of experience, we can clear this/that certification, which is, in fact, true, and most people are doing it, but the truth is 20-30% of the questions asked in certifications are those which we have not touched or done in the projects. And in exams, most of the questions are based on scenarios. If you have yet to work on that specific part, then it is rare you can pass it out.
- Don’t go with your instinct; go for that option leads to practically possible. Always do the practical in your development org if you need clarification about the concept.
SG: What do you enjoy most about your work as a certified Salesforce professional?
Akashdeep: I enjoy working when I am tasked with challenging implementations having more complexity. Because even if you think you have learned everything, learning is the only thing that never ends. When I learn something new, then I share that experience with my juniors and my colleagues so that they will stay motivated.
SG: Time for gratitude!! Finally, is there anyone (individual or company) that you would like to take this opportunity to thank for their role in helping you along your journey? If Yes, what was their role in your success?

Akashdeep: Absolutely! I would like to thank my family and friends who supported me during my initial days and throughout my journey. They have offered me the support and guidance which helped me to reach here. I would also like to thank the company I have worked for 5 years, i.e, Graziiti Interactive, who gave me the resources and platform to reach my goals and achieve the certifications.
