In a world grappling with climate change and biodiversity loss, reforestation has emerged as a critical solution. Leading the charge is 1t.org, a global movement co-founded by the World Economic Forum and Salesforce, with an audacious goal: to conserve, restore, and grow one trillion trees by 2030. Now, this ambitious initiative is expanding its reach with the launch of a new European chapter.
Salesforce Bolsters Support
Tech giant Salesforce, a co-founder of 1t.org, is doubling down on its commitment to the cause. The company announced a $100,000 USD donation to support the European expansion, and an additional $100,000 USD to kickstart a new forest project in France. This aligns with Salesforce’s broader sustainability goal of helping to conserve and restore 100 million trees by 2030.
Julie Ravillon, Sustainability Lead at Salesforce, emphasized the significance of this move: “Today’s launch is more than a milestone — it’s a clarion call to Europe’s private sector for climate action and a pledge to preserve our planet’s precious resources.”
Reforest’Action Takes the Lead
Paris-based B-corp Reforest’Action, with 15 years of forest restoration experience, will serve as the Secretariat of the new European Chapter. The organization will leverage its expertise to offer the benefits of 1t.org as a global learning and action platform to companies across the EU and EMEA region.
Reforest’Action is also partnering with Salesforce on a new project to restore and conserve Festigny forest in France’s Marne region. The project aims to reforest nearly 27,000 trees of five different species across more than 12 hectares, creating a thriving, resilient, multi-functional forest ecosystem.

The launch event at Salesforce’s Paris office brought together key stakeholders to craft a strategy for fortifying ecosystems and safeguarding biodiversity across Europe. This is particularly pressing given that Europe is the fastest-warming continent in the world.
Florian Vernaz, Head of 1t.org at the World Economic Forum, stressed the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration: “Our shared vision to conserve, restore, and grow a trillion trees over this decade can only be advanced through the mobilization of the private sector, alongside multi-stakeholder partnerships, innovation, and ecopreneurship on the ground.”
