  • The Quote Template controls the formatting and organization of the quote document.
  • The presentation of individual content records, for example – line items, signature fields, and terms and conditions can be customized on the quote template sections.
  • A given template can contain any number of sections in any order. These sections can be reused between multiple templates.
  • The actual information stored in a section is called Template Content.
  • For example, a Shipping Information section contains content records for Prepared For, Prepared By, Quote #, Date, Contract Start, and Contract End.

Template Line Columns

  • The quote template can be organized with columns that represent quote line fields. These columns help show important field values on the quote document. Line columns can be created from the Line Columns related list on the quote template record.
  • For example, a quote document can have two columns, one that shows quantity values for all line items and the other that shows unit price values for all line items.

Key Fields

  • Alignment: This determines how column labels and values are aligned (Left, Right, Centre).
  • Display Order: The order in which the column hosting this field is displayed.
  • Field Name: Specify the API name of the field on the Quote Line object to be displayed in this column.
  • Roll Up: Indicates whether this field should be rolled up into the master line and is only applicable if a roll-up field is specified on the quote template.
  • Section: Specify the section to which this line column applies.

Line Item Print Options

  • Group Fields: Select this field to organize your line items by the value of your chosen field.
  • Hide Component Products: Select this checkbox if component products with the Component enabled should not be printed on the quote documents.
  • Number Terms: Select this checkbox if the quote terms rendered by this template should be numbered.
  • Show Bundled Products: Select this checkbox to show quote line items that have their Bundled fields selected on documents created from this template.
  • Show Discount Schedule: Choose how to display discount schedules on the quote document.

CPQ Quote Document Management

Generate and Send a CPQ Quote Document

  • Select a quote record and click “Generate Document”.
  • Choose an output format – PDF or Microsoft Word .doc.
  • Add a document name.
  • Choose any other documents that you want to add.
  • Select any actions – Save, Save and Email, Preview, Cancel.

Enable Batch Document Generation

The creation of a quote document and sending it to the quote’s primary contact can be automated in Salesforce CPQ by enabling batch document creation in your org’s package settings, which is a one-time step.

Change Output Format

The CPQ quote documents are generated in PDFs by default. However, a setting “Allow Output Format Change” can be added to a user profile that lets users choose between PDF or Microsoft Word doc output on the Generate Document page.
