Salesforce Released Data Beyond Borders 3.0

Salesforce’s recent release, Data Beyond Borders 3.0, underscores the vital role of open cross-border data flows in fostering the growth of digital economies. The report, commissioned by Salesforce and focused on G20 economies, offers valuable insights into the state of openness to cross-border data flows. This marks the third installment of this comprehensive analysis, reflecting Salesforce’s commitment to understanding and facilitating data management in a globalized world.

The report found countries that embrace open cross-border data flow have shown a 45-fold increase in the last decade and are estimated to reach $2.7 trillion in 2023.

Additionally, The report emphasizes the importance of data protection, the evolving landscape of data regulations, and the growing trend of data localization as businesses strive to navigate the complexities of data management in a globalized world.

Increased Prices for Salesforce Cloud and Marketing Tools

On July 11, Salesforce announced that it would increase prices for several of its cloud and marketing tools by an average of 9% from August 2023.

It is the first price hike since 2016 from the CRM maker, and the impacted solutions include Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Industries, and Tableau.

According to Salesforce, the new rates will only apply to new and existing customers purchasing new clouds in August.

Pricing for the Professional Edition will increase from $75 to $80, up by $5.

The Enterprise Edition by $15 ($150 to $165), while the Unlimited Edition saw a $30 hike ($300 to $330), the company said.

In addition, Salesforce revealed its plans to apply comparable list price adjustments to Industries, Marketing Cloud Engagement and Account Engagement, CRM Analytics, and Tableau. This move signifies the company’s broader strategy to align pricing structures across various products and services within its ecosystem. While the price hike may displease customers, on the other hand Salesforce shares have gone up nearly 4%, Reuters reported.

Salesforce Appointed it’s new President

In other news, Salesforce appointed Sabastian Niles as President and Chief Legal Officer on July 17. According to Salesforce, Sabastian Niles will take charge of the company’s worldwide Legal and Government Affairs divisions, reporting directly to Chair and CEO Marc Benioff. Moreover, he will assume a position on the executive leadership team. It is worth mentioning that Niles comes to Salesforce from Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, a renowned Wall Street law firm, where he served as a partner. Interestingly, his appointment follows his role as a leading activist lawyer who advised Salesforce against several hedge funds’ calls for changes within the company, as reported by Reuters.
